Privacy Policy for AIStoryWriter

This Privacy Policy describes how AIStoryWriter ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use the Service.
Scope. The Service consists of: (a) the AIStoryWriter web application at aistorywriter.app; (b) the AIStoryWriter Chrome Extension; and (c) the AIStoryWriter Telegram Mini App. This Policy applies to all three surfaces. Where a specific section applies only to a particular surface, that is called out inline.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you sign in via Google, we collect your email address and basic profile information to create your account.
- User Content: We collect the text prompts and preferences (e.g., character names, themes) you input to generate stories.
- Records of Consent: When you accept these documents on the web application, we record which version of the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy you agreed to and the timestamp of acceptance. This record is stored alongside your account and is used to demonstrate that explicit consent was given before any personal data was processed.
B. Automatically Collected Information
- Usage Data: We collect data about how you interact with the Service (e.g., pages visited, features used, number of stories generated) to improve the Service. On the web application, this includes product analytics events captured through PostHog (see Section 3).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
- Generate personalized stories and illustrations using AI models.
- Send you important service updates.
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following third-party service providers essential for the Service's operation:
- AI Providers: We send only the information you explicitly enter (such as toy names, descriptions, and story preferences) to third-party AI models (including Google Gemini and Nano Banana) for the purpose of generating content. We do not send any data from your profile, account, or browsing activity to AI providers. Please refer to each provider's own privacy policy for details on how they handle data.
- Database & Hosting: We use Convex and Cloudflare to store your account data and generated content securely.
- Product Analytics: On the web application, we use PostHog to collect anonymous and pseudonymous usage data so we can understand how the Service is used and improve it. Once you have accepted this Policy, PostHog associates these events with your account identifier. No analytics identification occurs before you accept this Policy.
4. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
5. Your Rights
You may request the deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at scribe@aistorywriter.app.
Declining at sign-in. On the web application, when you are presented with the consent screen, choosing "Decline" will immediately and permanently delete your account, authentication session, and any associated data we hold for you. No further action is required. You may sign in again at any time to create a fresh account.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service from time to time. Each version is identified by a date stamp shown at the top of the document.
When we make material changes, we will require you to review and re-accept the updated documents on your next sign-in to the web application before you can continue using the Service. Continuing to use the Service after a material update requires fresh consent.
